Dr. David Hanson graduated at the top of his class from Creighton University School of Dentistry and earned his medical doctorate from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Department of Surgery and Northwestern University Dental School. Dr. Hanson completed his General Surgery PGY-1 and PGY-2 years at Northwestern, Rush and Cook County and has worked or trained at every major teaching hospital in the city.
Additionally, Dr. Hanson serves as Director of Oral Surgery in the Division of Dentistry at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital and is active in providing instruction and supervision to post graduate dental residents.
It was during Dr. Hanson’s residency at Northwestern when he and Dr. Steven Koos first met. Dr. Koos at that time was in Dental School and was doing his Oral Surgery rotation and Dr. Hanson was Chief Resident. Dr. Hanson had a profound impact on Dr. Koos by influencing his desire to pursue Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery as a profession and they have maintained their friendship over the years. Both Dr. Hanson and Dr. Koos established independent practices in Chicago and have now decided to merge with one another as partners.
In addition to out-patient, office based Oral Surgery and anesthesia, his areas of expertise include facial trauma, advanced dental implants and bone regeneration procedures.

It was a pleasure to have straight forward information provided and constant follow up after my surgery.
