Micro needling is the stimulation of the skin with an electric “pen” containing a head of multiple tiny needles. These small needles make passes across the skin, and penetrate the skin to cause micro injuries. The purpose of this is to stimulate production of collagen and elastin. After healing, this results in more youthful looking skin that is smoother, tighter, and more even in color, texture and overall complexion. This procedure is great for improvement of hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and acne scars. There is slight bleeding involved. Pain in minimal, and a topical anesthetic can be used to enhance patient comfort. There is minimal down time. Immediately after, and the day following micro needling the skin will look red as if you have a mild sun burn. Two to four days after there will be some peeling of the surface skin. At around day six you will start to notice and appreciate your new beautiful skin. Patients can receive this treatment every 4-6 weeks, and often have 2-6 treatments to maximize results. This treatment is often combined with PRP.
